UA College of Community Health Sciences Annual Report
From the Nominator
"The annual report is created by the external relations department at The University of Alabama (UA) College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) and distributed to alumni and donors; community, state, and business leaders; CCHS partners and supporters; UA administrators, deans, and other campus leaders; and patients of University Medical Center (UMC), a multi-specialty, multi-location medical practice operated by CCHS. The annual report is a primary way we reach our audiences to promote CCHS/UMC and its mission to improve the health of Alabama communities, as well as inform readers of CCHS/UMC activities and strengthen readers' connection with us (particularly with alumni and donors). It serves as an engagement and advancement piece.
The 2020 issue’s cover story package focused on the work of CCHS/UMC to keep UA faculty, staff, students, and West Alabama communities safe during COVID-19 and help keep campus open. With an engaging package of stories that included a main story and sidebars, strong photography, illustrations (a first for us), new and modern icons to visually quantify the CCHS/UMC work, and a dynamic magazine redesign, the issue details and showcases how CCHS/UMC cared for campus and communities in a pandemic, provided continued chronic and preventive healthcare for patients and communities, and educated our learners (e.g., medical students, resident physicians, fellows, and graduate students in population health and rural community health).
The issue received higher praise than any other produced by external relations. It was lauded by alumni, CCHS Board of Visitors (alumni-donor steering and leadership group), UA administrators and leadership, and CCHS/UMC partners and supporters."
