"This cover is in honor of the 30th anniversary of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. It reflects the battle that brought Kearney State College into the Nebraska system. Attempts to bring Kearney State into the university system failed in 1974 and 1985. In 1989, LB247, a higher education bill, was debated to the legislature with an amendment to add KSC to the Nebraska school system. The battle lines were drawn, with opponents to Kearney becoming very clear. However, in the end, the bill passed by slimmest of margins.
Kearney State College officially joined the University of Nebraska system on July 1, 1991, when the school’s name changed to the University of Nebraska at Kearney."
