Bold Ideas Summit Workbook
From the Nominator
"The Bold Ideas Summit engaged prospective donors and university leaders in co-creating collaborative priorities for our upcoming fundraising campaign. Attendees included U-M executives, academic leaders, and 50 of the university’s most engaged prospects.
Before the summit, faculty teams from across the university had prepared collaborative ideas in five thematic areas. Summaries of these ideas were compiled in a workbook designed to invite feedback before the event. We wanted attendees to understand that the proposed ideas were not final, but a “work in progress” that needed their advice, ideas, and input. Our team created a design palette with shorthand-style editing elements to invite notes, edits, and plenty of space for feedback.
The Bold Ideas Workbook was mailed to every attendee before the event, giving them time to review the proposed ideas, reflect, and record their responses in preparation for the event. We were delighted that guests showed up to the event with marked up workbooks in hand, ready to discuss the ideas that resonated. This was a group of busy, top-tier philanthropists who might not normally invest time in such a “homework” assignment, but they seemed to appreciate the lighthearted concept and design.
Along with a well-executed strategy, design, and production for the event, the Bold Ideas Workbook helped create a vibrant, energetic, and interactive experience for donors and volunteers that catalyzed meaningful engagement, input, and future gift conversations. We’ve also received multiple requests to reprint the workbook for additional conversations on campus and across the country."
