"By virtually every measure, the “Campaign for Carolina” was an unabashed success. Throughout the eight-year campaign (2015-2022), Carolina remained resilient in the face of local and global challenges. The results speak for themselves, with over $5.1 billion raised, making Carolina one of just six public universities to pass this milestone. Additionally, we celebrated 230,000 plus donors, a 27 percent alumni participation rate, 85 percent of schools and units meeting their campaign goals, and more than $1 billion raised for scholarships.
As a result of this fundraising, we have over 980 new scholarships and fellowship funds, more than 17 buildings were added to campus or underwent a renovation, and over $2 billion was raised to support faculty. The “Campaign for Carolina” was, in many ways, a campaign of campaigns with 26 schools and units setting their own goals and priorities. Additionally, we had pan-university initiatives focusing on arts, scholarships, global experiences, and accelerating interdisciplinary science research to market.
Development leadership outlined three strategies to accelerate Carolina’s fundraising performance: increase focus on high-net-worth individuals, invest in fundraising infrastructure, and optimize all aspects of Carolina fundraising.
These strategies were critical to our success and laid the foundation for future campaign performance."
