Harvey House: LGBTQIA+ Residence Hall Identity Graphics and Installation
From the Nominator
When Jameelee Ford, Assistant Director for Community Development, Residential Life, came to the Office of Communications and Marketing’s Creative and Design Services, the request was to create an identity for a new LGBTQIA+-focused Living Learning Community called Harvey House, named in honor of UAlbany alumni Harvey Milk ’51. The goal of the newly designated residence hall was to focus on the life Milk led rather than focus on the events surrounding his death, and to give the residence hall an identity that radiated pride and a feeling of belonging among the students who would call the residence hall their home.
From the Judges
Truly commendable for effectively achieving the goal of celebrating Harvey Milk's life through a masterful use of color and expressive design. The design not only captures the essence of Milk's legacy but also aligns seamlessly with the school's brand guidelines, ensuring a cohesive visual representation. The way it beautifully complements the space is a testament to the careful consideration given to every aspect of the design.
