Hurricane Watcher - Maria Molina
From the Nominator
Maria Molina discusses her path from "Fox & Friends" personality to data scientist studying Earth's changing climate with cutting-edge artificial intelligence. Maria was 5 years old when Hurricane Andrew sliced from South Florida and roared over her frightened family's home. The fierce winds that made it the costliest storm in U.S. history at the time also propelled her toward a career focused on understanding extreme weather. By her early 20's, she was helping millions do so as a Fox News meteorologist. This portrait combines a compelling portrait of Molina along with an image of Hurricane Andrew. I try to meld the two together with the colors and textures of the image projected on her and the background.
From the Judges
Great conceptual feature image. The lighting of the subject mixes well with the projection. This visual is commonly seen, but in this case, it’s done extremely well.
