This feature article highlights international cheese tasting expert Jill Allen, a 2002 Oregon State University alumna who directs research and development at one of Oregon’s most iconic and important food businesses, Tillamook. The article appeared in the spring 2022 edition of the Oregon Stater alumni magazine, giving readers an inside view of the state’s cheesemaking industry, which plays a significant part in Oregon’s reputation for artisanal food. The article was written through a multi-stage interview process (coordinated with staff from the Tillamook company), including an in-person interview at the creamery on the Oregon Coast.
