"The Tell-Tale A"
From the Nominator
"Magazine Senior Writer Katie Pearce has a knack for digging into the university’s vast archives to find and tell captivating stories about history. For our spring issue, she took on an Edgar Allan Poe mystery of a different sort: Was the university in possession of the only example of music written by the famously macabre writer—a document that would prove true rumors that the writer secretly married his young wife even earlier than previously thought? Or is the document a forgery?
This story takes a creative approach to previewing "Grace Notes in American History: 200 Years of Songs from the Lester Levy Sheet Music Collection," an exhibit housed at the university’s George Peabody Library."
From the Judges
Supremely interesting article with a terrific title. The writer has done credible research and does not draw any conclusions. However, it does leave the reader asking the question themselves: Is this authentic to the prolific author? I would love to read a follow up to this article. Very creative story that had the judges hooked from the headline.
