University of Miami Medicine Digital Magazine: Spring/Summer 2022, Fall 2022
From the Nominator
"Each year, UHealth – the University of Miami Health System and the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine publish a bi-annual medical magazine featuring articles on innovative research, clinical care, philanthropy, and alumni news. The magazine was revived in 2019 after a long hiatus with the goal of improving the ranking of the Miller School of Medicine. This goal has been considered a success, as the Miller School has risen nine spots in the U.S. News and World Report rankings.
In response to the pandemic, we introduced our award-winning digital edition, which has now become a staple of the magazine. We believe the University of Miami Medicine Digital Magazine shows two areas of innovation that make it a distinctive, standalone piece rather than a copy of the printed magazine:
1.The opportunity to publish longer, more detailed stories with additional photography that do not fit into the printed magazine. 2.The use of animation as an additional visual storytelling asset for several of the stories.
The spring/summer 2022 digital edition website received 7,707 unique visitors. The most popular articles were “Class Acts” and “No Quit in the Battle Against Smoking.” The Google analytics for the fall 2022 digital edition website were corrupted due to a glitch with Google Analytics’ site. Unfortunately, we were not able to collect that data, but we estimate the viewership to be similar to that of the spring/summer 2022 edition."
From the Judges
Good site, attractive and engaging. Has great balance and was refreshingly artsy for a medical magazine
