"World-Changing Gifts: Casey Stengl"
From the Nominator
"This video tells the story of just one of the What Starts Here campaign’s transformational silent-phase investments—the lifetime and estate gifts of Casey Stengl ’39, which established the $45 million Stengl-Wyer Endowment.
The Stengl gift provided creative opportunities and challenges in equal measure. It is notoriously difficult to tell stories about program endowments, estate gifts, non-monetary gifts and early-stage initiatives—and this has all four. Our team leaned into the idea of planned giving as leaving a legacy, and let the people who have directly benefited from Casey’s generosity tell the story of what her investment has meant to them, UT, Texas and the Lost Pines of Texas.
“World-Changing Gifts: Casey Stengl” was one in a series of 13 videos, created by an internal team of four, highlighting every gift of $10 million and above made in the silent phase of the campaign. It was also developed to seed conversations about UT’s Field Station Network initiative, a major campaign priority for the College of Natural Sciences."
From the Judges
A well-explained approach to honoring a legacy donation and how the team overcame not having donor to interview. Stunning cinematography. Great primer on field stations and why the gift is important. Ties campaign tagline with work at Texas, how it impacts the state, and ripples.
