With You: With Illinois Campaign Close Magazine
From the Nominator
To celebrate the end of the With Illinois campaign and to communicate the impact of giving, we printed With You, an 88-page magazine to send to all donors who gave $1000+ during the campaign. We didn’t want to produce a conventional impact report, so we developed our content by taking traditional elements of a campaign report (statistics, priorities, scholarship information, etc.) and blending them with the structure and design of a magazine. Specifically, our approach mirrored the approach we take to our award-winning STORIED magazine, where we use large imagery, storytelling, and a variety of story structures to create a rhythm and flow to the content. It was incredibly important to us that every donor could see themselves in this piece—so every donor feels they are an important part of our philanthropic community—so we told stories of gifts and impact at all levels and across a variety of ways to give. This magazine was mailed to over 50,000 donors and distributed at our campaign close celebration event as well as regional campaign events.
From the Judges
The entry has engaging visuals and strong storytelling. The longer features were a different approach within the category and impact reports in general, which underscored the powerful results of philanthropy. Blow-up text and statistics included definitions to help the reader understand the context.
