BROOME Alumni Magazine--Spring and Fall 2023
From the Nominator
BROOME Alumni Magazine captures college news, promotes SUNY Broome, celebrates our graduates’ successes, and shares it all with the largest audience of any of our campus's publications. Our spring 2023 edition reviewed Dr. Kevin Drumm’s tenure as SUNY Broome’s president, to mark his June 2023 retirement. The feature, incorporating the college’s official colors of black and gold, shared snippets of his personality through "Drumm Data" sidebars and numerous photos of his years on campus. Also included in this edition was a very popular story of an alumnus who is a local news anchor and another alumnus who, at a very young age, has started his own company. For the fall 2023 edition, we tell the story of SUNY Broome’s new president, Dr. Tony D. Hawkins, with the design playing off his participation at the all-important local Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally. We did this through a hot-air balloon's color scheme and shape. Other highlights included the globe-trotting research of a beloved faculty member and a feature on four of our alumni serving as elected officials. The story of the elected officials unified the profiles through similar color and design elements. Besides featuring compelling and engaging articles, some of our goals for BROOME are to increase our online circulation and inspire our alumni to submit class notes, attend our events, and support the college.
