George Mason University’s 2023-24 Print Recruitment Package
From the Nominator
These items from George Mason University’s 2023-24 recruitment package show how we redeveloped our print resources to meet the needs of our diverse prospective students. Through a unified aesthetic, we introduce these students to Mason and our new “All Together Different” brand initiative. The freshman and transfer viewbooks were redesigned to streamline their content, communicating the essential information prospective students need to know. This information is supported by student stories and statistics that demonstrate the value of a Mason education. The viewbooks are complemented by our redesigned ADVANCE and Honors College supplements, plus our new “Mason Welcomes All Together Different” piece. Mason’s commitment to inclusivity is shown through the multiple paths students can take at Mason, whether they enroll via our unique ADVANCE transfer partnership or apply for the University Scholar cohort in the Honors College. The “Mason Welcomes All Together Different” supplement uses testimonials to show that, no matter who they are, Mason students can engage with a diverse community that values their unique perspectives. Since deploying these pieces, Mason has seen increases in enrollment figures across the board. At the time of writing, applications are up for our freshman (12%), transfer (8%), and honors (18%) populations, and participation in our ADVANCE program is up 4% year over year.
From the Judges
Using the "All Together Different" theme shows that George Mason really understands its target audiences. Additionally, we thought that supporting materials were creative and had a modern design, and we liked the use of QR codes throughout.
