The BET on JSU (Black Excellence at Thee) marked the fourth innovative video production for Jackson State University's (JSU's) Day of Giving since 2020, when we first adapted our approach in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This 2023 event, themed around the late ‘90s and early ‘00s BET (Black Entertainment Network) programming, was a creative evolution of our online fundraising strategy. This year's concept featured a family engaging with a streaming service, exploring JSU-themed shows inspired by BET's iconic celebration of Black culture. This approach not only showcased the university's vibrant community but also highlighted the ongoing importance of giving in a post-pandemic world. Broadcast via Facebook Live, BET on JSU successfully surpassed our $650,000 goal, raising $689,000. This achievement underscores the event's effectiveness in using entertainment, nostalgia, and education to engage a broad audience in supporting JSU.
