Lethbridge College Media Training Course
From the Nominator
Creating a media training resource for Lethbridge College employees had been on the communication team’s radar for several years, and thanks to the efforts of three talented communications colleagues--supported by the college's Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation--we were able to launch it in the fall of 2023. The team wanted to create a short online course that would help our employees talk to reporters about the college, their center or department, their area of expertise, and even community activities they might be involved in. We designed it to be used by everyone, including faculty, researchers, the Board of Governors, student-athletes, student executives, and any other college student or employee who may be interacting with media. In the end, we created a great resource for ANYONE who wants to be more confident when speaking to ANYONE ELSE about the college and what we do here. The complete course takes less than two hours to complete, is easy to navigate, and has generated great feedback--our college president even enrolled in it!
From the Judges
This course has a great concept and self-paced online format. Judges loved its creativity and scalability, making it a model for other institutions. It's a super creative approach to providing services, allowing the campus community to learn at their own pace. This sustainable model is a great way to support students and staff, and its flexibility is a major advantage. It showcases innovative thinking and effective execution.
