Museum Fundraising at the University of Navarra
From the Nominator
“More Than Fundraising: Co-Creating Sustainable Projects With Donors” is the title of the fundraising campaign held by the University of Navarra between 2013 and 2023. The objective was to raise 100% of the construction costs for an art museum on campus. This campaign generated new stakholders--people and corporations from the art and culture sectors, an area where the university had no presence. Donors helped participate in the project's decision-making, the expansion of the collection, and activities programming, and they financed artist residences. The University of Navarra obtained full financing for the museum. In addition, an endowment has been started to ensure the financial stability of the project for the future. Instrumental in the success has been the creation of a board of 40 members and 25 international friends. The board's families have also gotten involved, generating a "young board" that is expecte to contribute to the project's sustainability.
