Nottingham Ambition Giving Day 2023
From the Nominator
I created a hero video to kick off the University of Nottingham's Ambition Giving Day in 2023. After a disappointing experience with an external agency the previous year, I opted for an in-house production to align the video closely with our vision. The deadline was tight deadline: under four weeks. I used free footage from the university's archives, including grainy clips from the 1980s and 1990s. The script, narrated by a colleague with an authentic Nottingham accent, was recorded in my living room using an old Dictaphone. Post-production involved meticulous editing, adding grainy overlays, borders, and a timestamp to enhance the nostalgic aesthetic. The video showcased diversity within our student body, drawing inspiration from American universities. It was shared across various social media channels and yielded impressive engagement metrics, contributing to the success of the Giving Day.

The use of historical elements and the local narrator really brought this video to life. Combining beautiful imagery and a strong call to action, the video is a compelling and memorable piece.
