This story explores the life and work of Shyama Golden. The American-born daughter of Sri Lankan parents yearning to go home, Shyama grew up as an outsider. But with the skills she learned as an art student at Texas Tech, she has been able to reinvent herself repeatedly, each time learning a little more about who she really is. This emotion-driven narrative of one woman along her path of self-discovery shows how, because of Texas Tech, she has been able to transform her future just by having the courage to try. It also allows our readers to see things from a new and different perspective.
