From the Nominator
This is the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's third print issue of STORIED. Whereas the first two issues served content for our Chicago donor audience, we've broadened our scope for our third issue. Our commitment to storytelling hasn't changed, so readers will still find diverse stories that cover sports, literature, art, science, students, alumni, and more. STORIED fits squarely into the engagement part of a fundraising pipeline: generating pride, encouraging interaction with the university, and building the case for support. We value interesting, authentic stories, and we strive to deliver them with beautiful design. The variety of stories we include is intentional—it is our goal that readers find themselves reading about topics that they wouldn't usually. We want to make the magazine that compelling. Survey results indicate that most readers read a majority of the stories in the piece and, indeed, many have commented that they were surprised to have read and enjoyed content that they wouldn’t have normally chosen.
