Are you new to the education sector? Never been to a CASE conference before?

The Newcomers Track is an opportunity for you to enjoy a bonus programme of learning, networking, and socialising before the main conference begins.

We welcome all newcomers who have joined the educator sector in the past 2 years, regardless of whether you are a fresh-faced graduate, or an experienced manager entering the sector in a senior role.

We welcome colleagues working in a variety of roles across advancement in education. Your day job might be fundraising, communications, alumni relations, marketing, or leadership. Either way, our sessions have been handpicked with everyone’s personal and professional development in mind.

Our 24-hour programme is brimming with valuable content to help you feel connected, informed, and super-charged for the rest of the CASE Europe Annual Conference 2023.

Discover your side-hustle superpowers. Embrace the boom of multimedia storytelling. Gather advice on how to work with your academic colleagues. 14:30 – 15:15 Opening Plenary: Multimedia Boom: Words, Images, Audio, Video

A showcase of the communication mediums at our disposal, along with top tips and strong examples from the international education sector.

15:15 - 15:30 Break

15:30 – 16:15 Hustle Superpowers, Bring Your Whole Self to Work

A panel discussion featuring all chairs and guest speakers about their hobbies, interests, and commitments outside of work. The panel will reflect on how they have brought their side-hustles into the workplace to become better and happier in their career.

16:15 – 17:00 How to Shape (and Reshape) Your Career

You are invited to take part in this interactive session. We will form a series of micro-panels comprised of yourselves. You will have the opportunity to share insights into your career pathway and decisions, whilst also seeking advice from your fellow delegates.

17:00 – 17:30 Free-Time

17:30 – 19:00 Instameet Walking Tour of Edinburgh

Join us for a walking tour of Edinburgh. Together, we will visit the sights (and ghosts) of our historic host city. The tour will be combined with an optional instameet activity. An instameet is where people are invited to take and share photos on social media whilst exploring a new place together. There will be prizes for the best photos, especially if you capture a ghost!

10:45 – 12:00 Show and Tell: Celebrating Your City

You are invited to share insights into your cities. Celebrating our cities is essential for advancement activity. Location marketing benefits student recruitment, whilst location nostalgia is effective for re-engaging alumni. You will present informally on this topic, through a series of short snackable presentations.

12:00 – 13:00 Lunch with Leadership Track

Annabell Lamba

Head of Marketing and Communications, King Edward’s School and King Edward VI High School for Girls, Birmingham

Annabell is an experienced marketer within the education sector and is passionate about the different ways to impact and connect with inquisitive minds in our ever-changing world.

In 2022, she joined two of the top independent schools in the West Midlands as Head of Marketing and Communications. Prior to working within the school sector, Annabell worked within a variety of marketing and recruitment roles including faculty, international and postgraduate at Birmingham City University and University of Birmingham. She loves nothing more than delighting her audiences with creative and engaging campaigns.

Outside of work, Annabell enjoys volunteering and mentoring recent university graduates. Her favourite hobbies include taking photos and videos for Instagram, learning French, and running.

Celine Kuysters

Marketing and Communication Strategist, University of Antwerp

Celine was born and raised in Antwerp: the diamond, fashion, and beer capital of the world. She started her career in higher education in 2019, armed with master’s degrees in both strategic communication and journalism.

Besides being responsible for managing the faculty's international recruitment strategy, digital campaigns, content creation and social media, she is also committed to building its alumni community. Since 2022, she is part of the EMFD Marcom, Alumni and External Relations steering committee.

Having travelled 33 countries and speaking 5 (and a half) languages, her nickname at work has become Celinternational.

Kimberly Donaldson

Alumni Relations and Policy Officer, Policy Advisor, Scholarship Officer, University College Utrecht

Kim has been a part of University College Utrecht (Utrecht University) for over 3 years. Alongside her role directing the Alumni Relations and Development Office at UCU, she is also Policy Advisor to the College's Management Team.

She brings a background of more than 5 years in the higher education and non-profit sectors, having held positions ranging from admissions recruitment and financial aid to event management, marketing, communications, and research. Her work developing UCU's Alumni Office and efforts to create a culture of giving allows her to utilise all of these skills for a great cause.

As a first-generation, scholarship student with degrees from Colby College and University of Amsterdam, Kim understands the importance of students from every walk of life having access to education. A former high-performance athlete who values being a team player, she also places great emphasis on working collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.
