Welcome and Setting the Stage
Join the conference faculty for this opening session as they’ll introduce themselves and share some of their own background working on transformational gifts. Then we’ll begin our exploration of this topic by defining was a “transformational gift” really is. We’ll also talk about the current state of transformational giving to education, future trends, and common misconceptions about these gifts. Lastly the faculty will offer you their advice on how you can get the most out of this conference.

Money and a Mindset: Can Transformational Donors Be Typecast?
In this moderated panel discussion, we will explore transformational donor-advancement officer interactions through the donor life cycle, from identification through stewardship, as well as how these types of donors are unique. Faculty will share best practices learned through reflection on their own experiences.

Getting Your Campus Ready for Transformational Giving
Preparing your campus to not only be in a position to accept Transformation Gifts but to deliver on a donor’s vision and intent does not just happen by chance. In this session, we will engage in discussing the key elements that must be in place for success, including working with academic leaders; articulating a clear strategic vision; preparing detailed proposals and handling complex gift structures, all the while ensuring the institution is adequately positioned to deliver on its commitments.

Engaging Leadership in Cultivation and Solicitation of Transformational Gifts
The faculty will be joined by sitting vice presidents of three local universities for a panel discussion on strategies for identifying campus leaders and partners that need to be involved in transformational gift discussions, and strategies for engaging them. The panel will also explore managing potential risks and benefits of accommodating donor restrictions and requirements and managing questions of donor control and influence. Lastly, the faculty will discuss managing the expectations of university leaders in the wake of a transformational gift.
