This summer, we’re conducting a new survey of hundreds of development professionals to ask opinions about the current state and future of student philanthropy. We’ll hear about how education, advocacy and fundraising programs are conducted, when they start and how they are funded. We’ll list the top-rated current channels for engaging students, and what fundraisers think is next. Following up on recent CASE research with new opinions from your colleagues in the field, this session serves as an opportunity to benchmark your efforts, see what you have in common with other programs, and get ideas about how to improve your program and how to advocate for more investment from your leadership.

Three teams will face a secret student philanthropy program challenge live, and tangle with unexpected twists voted upon them by you. This session showcases the experience, ideas and quick thinking of your colleagues with your live feedback to get at some of the challenges we face each year with our programming. Engage in lively conversation on these key challenges. Who will win and reign supreme as throw down champions? Find out what happens when cooking show meets development office in this all hands on deck session!

During the four years of Giving Days at UC Santa Cruz, the number of student giving has increased 10 times versus how many students there were prior to Giving Day. Learn how Giving Day at UC Santa Cruz has changed the philanthropic culture of the student population and what lessons they have gleaned. Review what elements of a Giving Day inspire students to give their financial resources and also their time and passion.

Join the giving geek, that crazy guy who tried to create the grand unified equation of donor response, to discuss what the kids are doing these days. Because much of our research on donor psychology, response and engagement strategy is based on older, established populations, even as we’re talking about millennials, our currently enrolled Gen Z students are crushing those subscribe buttons, recording their Tik Toks and opting out of nontraditional communication channels. (Facebook what?) Are we ready for what’s next to engage this new generation of donors, before they leave campus?
