Rebecca Weitz
Rebecca Weitz is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in gift services and data management. She currently serves as the Senior Managing Director of Gift Services at the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association (WFAA). Rebecca leads a team of ten amazing humans who annually process over 140,000 gifts and pledges. WFAA’s Gift Services team is committed to timely and accurate gift processing, collaborative stakeholder support, and continuous innovation.
Before joining WFAA, Rebecca dedicated sixteen years to the University of Colorado Foundation. There, she excelled in managing gifts and records services, reporting, prospect and proposal management, and data analysis. Her efforts were instrumental in developing and implementing significant process improvements for both the CU Foundation and the Office of Advancement at CU.
Rebecca has participated in two major CRM conversions: from Ellucian Advance to UCI’s Ascend and from Blackbaud CRM to Affinaquest. She also has extensive experience with smaller-scale CRMs, including Trailblazer and Neon CRM. Rebecca is dedicated to enhancing operational intelligence and efficiency. She strives to streamline processes and elevate the standards of gift and data services, positioning them as a cornerstone of inspirational and influential advancement practices.
Rebecca is also a recognized speaker and presenter, having contributed to multiple Ellucian conferences, CASE conferences, and the aasp Summit. She has served as Chair and faculty of the CASE Gift & Records Workshop multiple times. Rebecca holds a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and a certificate in professional management from Employers Council.
Emilio Caballero
Emilio Caballero currently serves as the director of gift and records services at Yale University. He brings more than 25 years of experience in fundraising operations, data security and analysis through various data-related positions in his career.
In his current role, he manages the daily operations for biographical, geographical and financial information processing. He has developed several key integrations to synchronize data from external student information systems and online giving and directory systems. He established cross functional workflows and data integrity focused improvements through automation of standard business rules for batch processing.
Prior to Yale, he served as the Deputy Chief Membership Officer for Information Systems at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where he oversaw gift processing, financial reconciliation, records management and data security compliance requirements. He helped establish training programs and other diversity initiatives for future leaders at the Met.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from John Jay College and a master's degree in Technology Management from Columbia University.
Amanda Jarman
As the president of Fundraising Nerd, Amanda Jarman has helped dozens of nonprofit organizations make smart use of their donor data and data management systems. Her expertise has been honed during two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector, largely in data management. Before launching Fundraising Nerd in 2013, Jarman served in various fundraising data-related positions at Portland State University, most recently as assistant vice president for advancement services. Before that she served as associate director of advancement services at Lewis & Clark College. She started her career at smaller nonprofits. This experience ignited her passion for scaling big shop tools and techniques to fit shops of all sizes.
Jarman is a frequent trainer and presenter on fundraising data. This is her third time serving as a faculty member for this conference, and she has been an eight-time repeat faculty member for CASE's Gifts and Records Workshop. She also served as an instructor in Portland State University's Fundraising Certificate Program. She previously served on the Association of Advancement Services Professionals (AASP) strategic planning advisory council and its nominations committee, and was honored with the AASP's Emerging Leader Award in 2014
Karen A. Sims-Harrell
Karen A. Sims-Harrell currently serves as director gifts and records management at NC State University. Sims-Harrell brings over 20 years of experience within gift processing and donor records management. She is an experienced advancement professional with proven skills in fundraising and financial management, gift administration, policy creation, leadership and staff development. She is skilled in the use of consultative approaches to increase efficiency in integration of industry best practices for gift acceptance and data standards.
Sims-Harrell has served as a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Eastern PA Chapter for seven years and served as the Ethics and Accountability chair for two years. She has also served as a conference presenter and volunteer with CASE in varying capacities during her membership over the last 15 years. Sims has received the distinction as being a CASE district faculty stellar speaker for multiple years and was awarded the CASE 2021 District III Opportunity and Inclusion Award for her work in promoting diversity and inclusion industry best practices.
She holds a bachelor's degree from DeSales University in management and marketing and a master's degree in educational leadership from Lehigh University.
Gail Ferris
Gail Ferris is the assistant vice president for advancement administration at The George Washington University. His oversees gift agreement administration, biographical records, gift processing, and database services/reporting. He has also served in advancement services at Yale, Georgetown, Catholic, and American Universities, and World Wildlife Fund and US Holocaust Memorial Museum. He served 10 years on the faculty of the CASE Summer Institute for Advancement Services, chairing twice, and has chaired CASE's Gift Processing and Donor Records Workshops. He is the recipient of the CASE Crystal Apple Award for outstanding teaching and has authored chapters in several books published by CASE.
Travis Holland
Travis Holland has always had a passion for higher education and has spent his entire professional life in that arena in one form or another. In his current role, as a Senior Gift Administrator at the University of Colorado Foundation, Travis relishes the opportunity to see firsthand the impact that CU has had on its alumni and the world. He is proud to support the University, the Foundation, and the Gift and Records community.
Kristen Regan
Kristen Regan is a business analyst at The Ohio State University Foundation for the Advancement Records department.
While in school, she began working as a student caller and hiring manager for Ohio University, developing a passion for fundraising. After graduating, she began working at The Ohio State University Foundation as a gift and biographic records processor in the Advancement Records department. In 2015, she started a new role in Advancement Records as quality control processor, helping to develop the new quality control program. In 2017, Regan was promoted to the role of quality control supervisor in the department, leading the quality control effort for the department and managing a pair of individuals. She moved into her current role in the department in 2019.
She received her bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology with a minor in business from Ohio University. She also received a Certificate in Public and Noprofit Leadership.
John Taylor
John is the Principal of John H. Taylor Consulting, LLC, an independent advancement consulting practice. Since 2016 he has also been a partner with Alexander Haas, an Atlanta-based fundraising consulting firm working on numerous significant projects requiring John’s skills and areas of expertise. John has served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement Services, as well as Interim Campaign Manager, at North Carolina State University. He previously was the Vice President for Research and Data Services at CASE. Before that, John was the Director of Alumni & Development Records at Duke University for nearly 15 years. He holds a BA in Mass Communications and Socio-Political Change from Vanderbilt University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University.
John formed one of the largest advancement-related listservs in the world, FundSvcs, with nearly 4,000 subscribers. He has spoken at hundreds of conferences internationally, receiving the CASE Crystal Apple Award for outstanding teaching. He is the founder, current member, and Former President of the Board of the Association of Advancement Services Professionals. He received the AASP Jonathan Lindsey Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and named as a CASE Laureate in 2019. John was the editor for all three editions of the CASE Advancement Services book and served in various editorial capacities for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions of the CASE Guidelines. John resides in Durham, NC, with his wife and children.
