From the Nominator

"The Ohio State University Alumni Association worked with partners from Advancement's Business Intelligence and Data Science team to determine not only what mattered most in measuring the success of engagement work, but also the best way to get the data and analyses into the hands of professionals throughout OSU Advancement. Through a collaborative and key performance indicator-driven process, engagement professionals and advancement staff are now aligned on an overarching definition of what constitutes engagement and the two measurements that define success: acquisition through engaging new stakeholders and deepening the engagement of existing stakeholders. 

Engagement activities are organized by Time, Talent, and Treasure data points, creating a more streamlined measurement of engagement work. This new way to measure and track engagement work and the corresponding Tableau dashboard has helped the team become more data driven and improved overall strategy. The work has provided a solid foundation for improving engagement strategy and analysis in order to grow support for the university."

The judges liked that this entry started with the problem they were looking to solve and then demonstrated the thoughtful and strategic process to a resolution. The partnership between multiple offices--all joining as thought partners--resulted in a strong solution that aligned definitions and streamlined the measurement of engagement at their institution.
