Building Your Pipeline: Starting an In-House Digital Experience Officer Program

We all know that a robust donor pipeline is key to a sustainable, growth-oriented development operation. but how do we combine the relationship-building power of major gifts with the scalability of annual giving activities? The answer: Digital Experience Officers (DXOs)! In this session, you will hear how the OK State Foundation Annual Giving Team built a DXO program to engage and upgrade donors in the middle of the pyramid to identify and hand off the next generation of major gift prospects. Your presenters will share their experience building a program from the ground up, how they collaborated with peers to form a program that was right for their institution, and how the program has grown and changed in its initial two years.

Positioning a Strategic Initiatives Role for Success

You’ve heard about A.I., but have you heard about S.I.? Strategic Initiatives (S.I.) is an emerging niche in higher education advancement that is changing the field. The term "strategic initiatives" is not new, of course, but as one advancement leader recently said, "Everyone wants S.I., very few have it, and even fewer are doing it well." Participants in this round table session will: (1) learn about S.I. in higher education fundraising, (2) identify different S.I. models, and (3) discuss the opportunities and barriers of integrating one or more S.I. roles, transformational support for large-scale institutional priorities, and interdisciplinary research initiatives at their institution.

Maximizing Fundraising Success: Bridging Gaps Between Fundraisers and Researchers

Please join us for a practical workshop where gift officers, researchers, and managers will walk away with some best practices on how to effectively collaborate and maximize fundraising success.

How to Master your Fundraising Universe: Leveraging Communications & Marketing

This session focuses on how to develop a playbook centered on integral principles of fundraising that are too often an afterthought for organizations: stewardship, marketing, and communications. Multi-Million Dollar Success: Redefining Comprehensive Fundraising at an HBCU

In the face of political and racial tensions spreading across the nation and the impact of a global COVID-19 pandemic that upended traditional norms, The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff reached a historic fundraising milestone, generating $10.1 million: the best fundraising year in school history! The success represented 200% growth over five years, moving UAPB from an average of $2M annually to the historic $10.1M high. Such fundraising success at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), especially a small public university, is unprecedented. HBCUs face many challenges regarding fundraising and alumni engagement, but with creativity, perseverance, and non-traditional thinking, exceeding your fundraising goals can become more than just a plan! Join us for an engaging, transformative session and learn how we overcame extreme challenges and barriers to create a successful, comprehensive fundraising strategy.
In this session, you will learn the following:
• How to exceed fundraising goals even when your Institutional advancement office is understaffed, underfunded, and overworked!
• How to think beyond the urgent and immediate needs to grow your endowment.

Impactful Data - Creating Actionable and Inspirational Dashboards

Dashboard reports and self-service tools can be very beneficial for advancement shops. They save time by giving end-users access to the metrics they need, help keep departments on track, discover insights to help diversify programming, and give fundraisers valuable feedback on activities. But tables with numbers do not an effective dashboard make. In this session we will discuss what makes an impactful, equitable, and inspirational dashboard report, hear from the VP of Advancement at Texas State University on what make a good dashboard for leadership, discuss tips on how to avoid analytical bias, and identify ways you can diversify and spruce up your reporting.

Flipping the script: building a donor pipeline through creative collaboration

Fundraising is often described as both a science and an art. In pipeline building, we often only focus on the science of the equation by moving prospects in one direction of the donor pyramid. In this session, attendees will learn artful ways to rethink the traditional donor pipeline and strategies for collaborating with annual giving, prospect researchers, gift officers, and clinicians. Flipping the traditional model of donor acquisition that starts with annual giving and leads to major gifts, this session will highlight stories of successful collaboration and partnership with different starting points. Attendees will learn how to use this new model to increase donor engagement, new donors, and gifts.

In this interactive workshop, we'll talk about the rise of AI, help everyone understand generative AI and large language models, and talk about data protection and privacy.
