Elective session- No Will = No Legacy: Encouraging legacy giving by addressing inertia around Will-writing
Less than 1/3 of adults have an up-to-date Will, this can cause issues and upset for people close to them and to any charities they might have left a gift to may mean no gift at all. As fundraisers, understanding the barriers people put in place, both real and imagined is key to encouraging more individuals to consider a legacy gift and most importantly act on their decision. This session emphasises the benefits of solicitor drafted Wills, showcasing how they instil confidence and protect the charity’s interests in the future. We'll also introduce the National Free Wills Network, a service facilitating free solicitor-written Wills, thereby lowering hurdles to legacy giving, giving member organisations a clear call to action when discussing legacies with their audience and making everything measurable to aide planning and stewardship.
Speakers: Richard Millar, Managing Director, National Free Wills Network

When it comes to direct marketing charities are top of their game – many have decades of experience running direct mail, email, telephone, social media, DRTV, street fundraising and email campaigns. Many regular giving fundraising professionals in Higher Education have come from the charity sector. So what insights can University professionals take from their charity colleagues? In this session we’ll be learning from two professionals with charity backgrounds, who will share their experiences including lessons learned from running a successful social media campaign and how to create an email campaign that smashes response rates, and more.

Closing Session: Stop, Start, Continue
After 2 days of inspiring sessions, we want to give you some time to reflect on how you might implement your learnings when you head back to the office this week. In this exercise we will think about things that you want to start doing, stop doing and what you want to continue doing. If you would like to, you can submit these in the session and we will remind you of these 6 months down the line....
