For the second year, SIEF is online! We are planning on bringing the SIEF experience to you over the course of five weeks, with extra offerings available.

Delivered through a variety of online plenaries, interactive tutorials and elective sessions, you will return to work with a clear sense of what your job entails and a network of supportive contacts to help you deliver your objectives.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please email Rich Nicholl, Head of Educational Programmes at rnicholl@case.org.

Programme

The programme will commence on the 28 April and will run each Wednesday for 5 weeks (26 May being the final session).

During this training programme, you will:
  • Receive practical training in key concepts and review educational fundraising best practice alongside other professionals.

  • Learn from leading experts who will broaden your perspective, shift your thinking and provide a global perspective of fundraising.

  • Attend 10 plenary sessions and on demand elective sessions over 5 weeks including the core foundation sessions: It Takes a Village to Raise a Gift, Regular Giving, Major Gifts, Actively Asking, Campaigns, Ethics and Legacies.

  • Have the chance to learn OnDemand with recorded sessions, a range of resources and a reading list to help you to get the most out of the Institute.

  • Be part of a tutor group to discuss what you have learnt with a member of the faculty and fellow fundraisers.

  • Have your questions answered during one-on-one time with your tutor and other faculty members.

  • *Back for 2021!* Take part in a group project to test what you have learnt and present your project to the faculty and 2021 delegates.

  • Meet other fundraising professionals at two virtual networking opportunities.

  • Give your team a competitive edge in the current climate through a broader sector knowledge and enhanced performance.

  • Increase your confidence in a dynamic, interactive environment.

Structure

  • There will be 2 plenary sessions a week (being finalised with the faculty) and will include the core foundation sessions as well as newly curated content for 2021 including
    • It Takes a Village
    • Regular Giving
    • Major Gifts
    • Actively Asking
    • Campaigns
    • Ethics
    • Legacies
  • Weekly on demand electives – 4-5 elective sessions provided after each week which will provide the stimulus for conversations in the following tutor group meeting
  • Weekly tutorial time as well as one on one time with your tutor
  • Opportunity to schedule time with other faculty members (in addition to tutorial time)
  • All materials – video and supporting resources via a CASE Community to digest on demand content
  • Two virtual networking opportunities

Welcome from the Chair

Join us at the 2021 Spring Institute in Educational Fundraising (SIEF) and be part of something amazing. A grand statement I know, but entirely accurate. SIEF is CASE’s flagship educational fundraising programme in Europe for those new to the sector.

For over twenty years the Institute has set the gold standard as the first-in-class specialist programme for individuals working in educational and arts fundraising, providing them with the tools, skills and confidence to go back to their roles and build relationships to make remarkable things happen. As a SIEF alumnus myself, I know the impact it had on me, and still does to this day.

As one of last year’s delegates told us in their feedback, we delivered “the most in-person online experience” at SIEF 2020 and aim to make the virtual experience even better in 2021. So on behalf of myself and the 2021 SIEF faculty, we look forward to welcoming you to a 5 week online Institute that will provide first class training, fundraising core principles, discussion, networking and add immense value to your professional lives.

Testimonials

"I am new to fundraising, but the Spring Institute of Educational Fundraising provided theoretical, practical and fundamental knowledge from leading experts in this field. Every session provided new ideas for me to discuss with my team at work and has helped identify what I would like to do in the future in my role as a Development Officer.

This should be mandatory for everyone in the fundraising field to engage with, at the very least it provides appreciation for the role you carry out or for those who are in the development team."

2020 Delegate

"You managed to create the most 'in-person' virtual thing I've been a part of in the past few months for which I'm really grateful. Connecting to others, with lightness yet deep focus is hard to do at the best of times, let alone behind a screen."

Donal Anand-Shaw, Manager, The Karta Initiative
