Lori Bachand
Lori Bachand serves as the statewide senior director of communications and marketing for the Community College League of California. She has more than 20 years in strategic planning and program implementation for higher education, with expertise in marketing, stewardship, special events programming, and advancement and campaign communications.
Lori serves on the CASE District VII Cabinet has been involved in planning CASE District VII and national conferences, including serving as the chairperson for the 2019 and 2020 Connect West conferences. Lori is Accredited in Public Relations by PRSA and holds bachelor's and master's degrees in communications from CASE District VII member institution Cal State Fullerton.
Bill Campbell
Bill Campbell is the vice president of marketing and communications at Chatham University. He provides strategic leadership over the university's branding, marketing and communications activities in support of enrollment, fundraising, alumni engagement and more. Joining Chatham in 2012, he has helped lead the successful coed transition of Chatham's 145-year-old undergraduate women's college, and also served as the vice president of enrollment management until 2013.
Campbell's efforts at Chatham were recognized in 2015 with his selection as the American Marketing Association's Higher Education Marketer of the Year (Innovator Award). He has also earned a Top 40 Under 40 Leadership Award and presented at a number of conferences around the country.
Prior to Chatham, he worked for more than a decade at Clean, a brand agency located in North Carolina, in a variety of positions, culminating in his role as the vice president of brand strategy. In this role, he led the development of branding and marketing engagements for clients across a variety of sectors, including higher education, technology, nonprofit, travel and tourism, and consumer goods. He began his career in the nonprofit sector as the director of annual giving and operations for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Teresa Valerio Parrot
Teresa often says that while her husband is her true love, her alma mater was her first love. Higher education is her home. She is known for honesty juxtaposed with optimism; the two combine to provide communications counsel focused on transparent leadership and relationship building. Teresa helps higher education executives truthfully share excellence and genuinely own mistakes through their communications and actions because she knows honesty is present in all sound proactive and crisis outreach.
Previously, Teresa served as senior vice president for Widmeyer Communications and vice president for SimpsonScarborough. She counts almost 10 years of service with the University of Colorado, including an officer-level appointment as Assistant Secretary of the University.
She is co-host of the Trusted Voices Podcast, co-editor of Call to Action for Inside Higher Ed, and has numerous bylines with national and higher education media.
Teresa earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Colorado Boulder, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver, and a doctoral degree in higher education policy and leadership from Southern Methodist University. She holds accreditation in public relations from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
She lives in Longmont, Colorado, with her husband and dogs. Each year she threatens to become a runner and instead spends her time traveling with her family. Don’t get her started on how amazing her college-aged daughter is unless you have a spare hour or two. Or three. She serves on the boards of PRSA, the Colorado-based Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), and KUNC public radio and the Colorado Sound. She is a member of the Denver Ballet Guild.
Rob Zinkan
Rob Zinkan joined RHB, a higher education marketing consultancy, in 2019 after more than 20 years in higher education administration serving in senior leadership positions in marketing and advancement.
He spent the last 17 years at Indiana University, most recently in a system-wide role as Associate Vice President for Marketing, which included the development and deployment of the institution’s first university-wide (100,000 students and 7 campuses) brand strategy. He also served in campus-level roles as Vice Chancellor for External Affairs at Indiana University East and Assistant Dean for Advancement at Indiana University–Purdue University Columbus.
Zinkan holds a doctorate from Creighton University (his dissertation was on higher education brand coherence), a master’s from Xavier University, and a bachelor’s from Wabash College. He serves on the CASE Commission on Communications and Marketing, contributes to Inside Higher Ed's “Call to Action” blog, and is on the conference committee for the AMA Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education.
